W.O.S.C. is made up of a series of squads, designed to develop young/novice swimmers into serious competitive swimmers.

Acorns - (Coach – Marianne Hilder)

White Oak Acorns have been teaching children to swim for more than twenty years.
Children attend from the age of 5 to 11 years old. The aims of Acorns range from giving children the confidence to get into the water to teaching the more advanced swimmers on how to improve their technique.
When children have reached the relevant standard they move from the Acorns into the squads of White Oak Swimming Club.

White Squad - (Coaches – Catherine Baugh/ Chris Rye & Andrew Chalmers)

White Squad is the reception squad. The aim is to develop swimmer's stroke technique in all strokes.

Green Squad - (Coach - Steve Turrell)

Criteria for entering Green Squad is dependant upon a child's technique and ability. This is at the discretion of the White and Green Squad coaches.

Bronze Squad - (Coach -Paul Fisher)

This squad is a competitive squad. Members of the squad should be available for galas if selected.
Criteria for entering Bronze Squad is 2 ASA Bronze Badges times.
The aim of this squad is to develop the children's technique and racing starts and turns.

Silver Squad - (Coach – Steve Rye)

This squad is a competitive squad. Members of the squad should be available for galas if selected.
The criteria for entering Silver Squad is 2 ASA Silver Badge times.
The aim of this squad is to develop the children's stamina and racing abilities, whilst fine tuning techniques.

Gold Squad - (Coach – Dean Williams)

This squad is a competitive squad. Members of the squad should be available for galas if selected.
The criteria for entering Gold Squad are:
Be aged between 11 and 13 years (inclusive)
Have attained the 100 metres Freestyle time for their age and gender (see below).Have attained either a gold award over 100 meters in a form stroke (Back, Breast or Fly) or the age and gender related time for 100 meters IM

Members must attend at least 4 sessions each week.
The coach considers it appropriate for a swimmer to be in the squad for their personal development.
Have the ability to complete the full session to a satisfactory standard.
Exceptions to the above criteria will have to be agreed by the Committee.
Squad members are expected to progress and continue to meet the entry criteria.
If a swimmer fails to meet ANY of the criteria, they will be issued with a written reminder of the squad criteria. If there is no significant improvement, they will be asked to move to an alternative squad.

Club Squad - (Coach -Dean Williams)

The criteria for entering Club Squad are:
To meet the criteria for Gold Squad but be 14 years old or above.
This squad is a competitive squad. Members of the squad should be available for galas if selected.
Members must attend at least 3 sessions each week.
The coach considers it appropriate for a swimmer to be in the squad for their personal development.
Have the ability to complete the full session to a satisfactory standard.
Be at least 14 years old by the end of the current calendar year.
Exceptions to the above criteria will have to be agreed by the Committee.
Squad members are expected to progress and continue to meet the entry criteria.
If a swimmer fails to meet ANY of the criteria, they will be issued with a written reminder of the squad criteria. If there is no significant improvement, they will be asked to move to an alternative squad.

County Squad - (Coach - Dean Williams)

Criteria:
This squad is a competitive squad. Members of the squad should be available for galas if selected.
Have attained at least 2 Kent County qualifying times for their age group (ages as at 31st December). Squad members are expected to progress and continue to maintain Kent qualifying times.
Members must attend at least 5 sessions each week.
The coach considers it appropriate for a swimmer to be in the squad for their personal development.
Have the ability to complete the full session to a satisfactory standard.
Be at least 13 years old by the end of the current calendar year.
Exceptions to the above criteria will have to be agreed by the Joint Swimming Sub Committee.
Squad members are expected to progress and continue to meet the entry criteria.
If a swimmer fails to meet ANY of the criteria, they will be issued with a written reminder of the squad criteria. If there is no significant improvement, they will be asked to move to an alternative squad.
